"Burger King have gone back to the 1990's?! - Take me with you!"

Hello World! Welcome back, my name is Benjamin! This post will be looking at Burger King (BK), and more specifically their new branding campaign which is currently being rolled out worldwide. This is the first time in 20 years that BK have introduced a branding facelift of this magnitude, and I must say I am fully on board with this one! Let's Discuss!

- You seem very excited, it's just a logo change, right?

Well...allow me to explain. It's actually a lot more than just a logo change. BK have gone the extra mile, they are rolling out this facelift across all aspects of their worldwide operation.

This means:

- New uniforms
- New food packaging
- New signage outside of restaurants
- New interior design (ready in time for easing of lockdown restrictions)

The familiar face of BK is completely changing, or is it? The strategy that BK have adopted is nothing less than a stroke of genius! This strategy is different because unlike many companies who decide to get a facelift and go for something "new and modern", BK have gone back in time! Check it out below!

Burger King - New Logo?

- Wow! That logo is almost identical to the one they had in the 90's!

That's right! BK have made a very bold move and they have actually referred back to their old logo! Based on market research studies, designers decided to make the move and pitched the idea to BK. The idea behind this move is simple, nostalgia sells.

Burger King - Branding done right!

I believe that BK have made a great move with their new branding. It is simple, effective and very clean. The colours pop, the logo is bold and inviting and to be honest it doesn't try to oversell the product. The new theme spells out the business model, it promotes quick, easy, and honest fast food. It is as if BK have found a time machine and they have teleported back to 1995. Upon arrival to 1995, the marketing department suddenly realised that their old logo was awesome, so they decided to bring it back! Speaking of the 90's, maybe BK should go ahead and bring back the Kid's Club gang!

There you have it! A throwback to the 1990's by one of world's most recognisable and popular brands. This bold move will go down in advertising and branding history books....but will it all pay-off? There have been mixed reactions to the move but I think it will go down as a success. The jury is still out on this one but my verdict is clear, I think it was a great move and one in the right direction for the industry as a whole.

This could serve as a vital lesson for competitors such as McDonalds and KFC. In order to move forward, sometimes you have to take a step backwards first.

That being said, who knows, maybe we'll be seeing more of that infamous clown sometime soon? You know who I'm talking about, right?

I hope you enjoyed this post, stay tuned for more coming soon! See you next time!
